LinkedHope launches OpenGL 3D Driver KIT for VxWorks Operating System

November 5th, 2014, the independent embedded computer provider LinkedHope™ launched its new VxWorks® OpenGL® 3D performance improvement Driver KIT for ARM® + GPU architecture, named SW20005. The driver kit is compliant with OpenGL® ES 2.0 specification, based on GPU hardware acceleration, and provides great image/graphic processing capability while keeps power consumption in a very low level, in the meantime, the driver kit also delivers high performance Real-Time computing and control capability contributed by VxWorks 6.8/6.9.

 


VxWorks® is the world's leading commercial real-time operating system (RTOS) and has been serving the needs of embedded systems of all shapes and sizes for more than 30 years. However, VxWorks® operating system does not support 3D acceleration performance of GPUs very well, in the meanwhile, the embedded market booms the demand for 3D performance, such as Maps and Navigation applications for embedded display units. Embedded systems integrators and real time device manufacturers require higher and higher 3D shading and rendering performance and all can be easily achieved by using OpenGL® ES compliant APIs.
The SW20005 driver kit from LinkedHope™, is fully compliant with OpenGL® ES standards, and implements all APIs defined by Khronos™ Group. By using these APIs, application software developers can implement 3D acceleration features on the supported embedded low power single board computers.
SW20005 currently supports Freescale™ i.MX6 series processors, offering ARM® architecture Single Core, Dual Core and Quad Core computing options. The processor also integrates a high performance GPU core that enables engineers deliver Ultra low power, Ultra compact embedded intelligent devices and consoles with great combination of real-time computing and gorgeous images and graphics. Benefited from LinkedHope™ 7x24 technical support service and mass produced i.MX6 based SMARC-sAMX6i single board from Kontron, developers are able to ship prototypes of such intelligent devices within 8 weeks!
